I loved Quinn in the first story (novella) called Jack, and I couldn't wait for his story. But, for some reason, I just didn't feel a connection with our H/h as I did in book 1. I think it's because our heroine in this book wasn't as likable as her sister was in book 1.This is drawn out more and slow at times. I did enjoy how the author ended this story compared to book 1 which left me wanting more.
There is some suspense, mild lovemaking, HEA and no cliffhanger.
I am not explaining what the story is as the blurb does it better than I. I can't wait for the rest of the siblings stories. (ljb)

Quinn A Scottish Outlaw Highland Outlaws Volume 2 Lily Baldwin 9781942623502 Books Reviews
I like this story of Quinn and Catarina's aka Katie's. However, I was not overly fond of Katie's elitist attitude throughout the beginning of the story. I get that it's a representation of a noblewoman's attitude during that time-period, but I did not enjoy that. Otherwise, I admire her determined attitude and how she didn't give up when they were running. Quinn's quiet strength and intelligence are attractive qualities. I'm glad it worked out for them in the end. Overall, I enjoyed the story, and can't wait to read the next.
Certainly a quick read, with an appealing hero. Some more editing would clean things up a bit.
The plot makes sense and moves along at a fairly good pace. Other than a circumstance regarding Nicholas, there is nothing particularly out of the ordinary here.
I will point out that there is no cliffhanger, and that the adult scenes are pretty mild. Not a book I would consider reading again.
I like Quinn. Non-pretentious that he is a thief, and I like the fact that the story did not dawdle on this fact, but get Quinn to explain to Catarina when the time came to do so. It was actually a nice surprise when i read that she wanted to remain with her husband - instead of the norm of storyline where the heroine would leave with the hero.. looking forward to the rest if any..
Wow! What a great story. I did not want to put it down. Quinn's tale is heartwarming. I didn't want it to end. I also enjoyed Jack, which is the first book in the series. If you haven't read it, I recommend you start there. I really enjoy Lily Baldwin's books. They are full of fresh ideas and fast paced. If you are new to Lily Baldwin you will love her if you enjoy authors like Paula Quinn, Margaret Mallory, Emma Prince and Kiera Montclair. Happy Reading.
Quinn MacVie is on a mission to rescue Lord David Redesdale's daughter, Lady Catarina Ravensworth. Posing as Brother St. Augustine of Glenrose Abbey, he gains entry to Ravensworth Castle. There he meets Lord Henry Ravensworth, Catarina's husband. He is a man with an iron control over his castle servants, knights and wife. He believes order is the sign of nobility. He even schedules when his wife can see their son, Nicholas.
Quinn sets up a secret meeting with Catarina. He tells her that her father committed treason against King Edward. Her father and her sister, Bella, fled for their lives from Berwick, Lord David Redesdale's seat. Quinn reveals that he has come to rescue Catarina from her abusive husband. Catarina said no, she's not leaving. She tells Quinn she will have to tell Lord Henry the news about her family, and from whom she received it. Catarina asks Quinn/Brother St Augustine to stay in the stable.
Lady Catarina tells Lord Henry about her father. Lord Henry dismisses Catarina and sends for Brother St. Augustine. Henry's brother, Sir Rupert, is livid about Catarina's family and suggests strongly that Henry dissolve his marriage to save the Ravensworth name. Henry refuses. Sir Rupert in his anger strikes Henry, who's head lands on the hearth and dies. Rupert lies. He tell Catarina that she killed her husband. Catarina denies the deed. When Rupert tries to implement Quinn in the murder, he and Catarina, with baby Nicholas, flee from Ravensworth Castle. Will they escape Sir Rupert? Will Catarina clear her name from the murder charges?
I found this novel intriguing and encompassing. The characters are well fleshed out. The plot keeps the reader turning the pages. All the subplots are wrapped up. This can be a stand alone. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
After listening to "Jack" on the Duncurra YouTube channel, I was so eager for Quinn's story to come out. Jack and Bella are a hard pair to follow, but you have to love Quinn's tenacity. Catarina and Bella are sisters, but completely different characters. To me, Catarina was a bit less saucy, or I guess you could say more subdued than Bella, in my opinion. I do think the author did a wonderful job of making the villain a villain. The ending of Book 2 is so well thought out and leaves room for the rest of the family of characters to have their stories told without leaving you hanging off the side of a cliff. I am very much looking forward to Quinn becoming an audio book. I loved the way James McCreadie narrated Jack's story. 😀 I would easily recommend both books and audio books.
Lilly Baldwin is an excellent writer! She spins her tales in these little novels with elegance and a unique flair you don't see in many others of this type... which is why, Miss Lily, I'm thinking your novels should get bigger, and longer, in short order. I'm putting myself on your mailing list so I'll be among the first to read your first best selling full length book!
